General Information

How do I get a library card?

You will need to come to the library and fill out a form. The librarian completing your card will also need to see an I.D. with your current address on it (driver’s license, passport, birth certificate, etc.).

Do I have to be a resident of Holyoke to get a card?

No. However, if you have a card at a another Colorado library and want a book from the Heginbotham, it can be sent through the carrier service to your local library. There is no need to obtain a Heginbotham card.

How many materials can I checkout?

Thirty, with some restrictions. Only three movies can be checked out at one time per patron.

How long can I keep my materials?

Books, magazines, and audiobooks can be kept for three weeks. DVDs can be kept for one week. Paintings can be kept for three months.

What are your hours?

Monday thru Friday 9:00 to 6:00

Saturday 9:00 to 1:00

The library closed on Sundays and holidays.

Do you have computers available for public use?

Currently there are three computers available for the public. You do not need a library card to use them. Usage is restricted to two hours per patron. A printer is also available for our patrons to use. Black and white copies are $0.10 a page and color copies are $1.00 a page.

Do you have books in Spanish?

The library has a small but growing collection of books in Spanish for adults, teens, and children.

Do you have other materials besides books available for checkout?

Along with books, the library also carry magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, and paintings that can be checked out. A photocopy of the patron’s I.D. is required to checkout paintings.

Do you have areas where I can study or conduct meetings?

There are several rooms available for studying and reading. A special meeting room is also available with laptops and a projector. Please call us at least one day prior to book the meeting room.

Do you have fines on materials that are returned late?

There are no fines on late materials. However, if the materials have been lost patrons are required to pay for them.

May I...

May I take photos outside the library for weddings, graduations, etc.?

We do allow people to take outside photos for special events but please call at least one day beforehand to let us know.

May I have my wedding at the library?

We do allow weddings on the library grounds. Receptions are not allowed. Food and beverages are not allowed. Please call the library for more information.

May I do my online classes at the library?

Patrons are allowed to come in and complete their online classes. Due to the small amount of computers the library has available, patrons taking classes are asked to bring their own laptop or tablet if they will be needing internet access for longer than two hours.

May I donate old books or other items to the library?

The library accepts books, audiobooks on CD, and DVDs for donations. These donations will be used for our annual book sale in September. Some items may become a part of the library’s collection. Before donating, please review the rules below:

  1. The library does not accept magazines, tape cassettes, encyclopedias, crossword/puzzle books, puzzles, board games, or medical books over five years old.
  2. Please make sure what’s being donated is in good condition (e.g. free from water damage and mold, no missing pages, no bite marks, etc.)
